The spring golf season officially began on April 6, bringing a fresh start and renewed energy to the golf team. Players are excited to hit the course, sharpen their skills, and prepare for upcoming meets.
Sophomore Averie Rivard said she’s looking forward to seeing how the team improves over the season. “I’m really excited for the season to start and to see how we improve,” she said. “We’ve been working hard in practice to get better. I’m looking forward to competing and having a good season with the team.”
Juniors Presley Frome and Paylan Merritt shared similar enthusiasm for the season. Presley noted, “The beginning of the season is always exciting because everyone is starting fresh. Our team has been focusing on improving our consistency. I think we have a lot of potential this year.”
Merritt added, “It’s nice to be back out on the course after the off-season. We’re all working together and supporting each other, and I’m excited to see how we do in our first competitions.”
The mild winter gave the team a chance to get out earlier than usual on the course to begin playing. Coach Fullmer said, “Having the team out playing on grass a full month and a half earlier than usual has been great for the players.”
The Braves hosted their spring invitation on Friday, April 10. The Lady Braves took second out of seven teams while boys also finished 2nd but to Green River by one stroke. Sophomore Deegan Hill won the individual competition by shooting 72. Kemmerer Lady Ranger Tazlyn Wagner won the girls individual title with a 78.
With the spring season underway, the golf team is ready to take on new challenges and hopefully more good weather.
