Exchange Students from Italy, Spain Share Thoughts
The students on the speech and debate team stand together for one last photo before the end of the state tournament. The tournament went from Friday to Saturday, March 13-15. They got home Sunday very early in the morning. Sophomore Ian Coles said, "The tournament just felt like a normal one but just longer which was strange."
Speech Wraps up Season in Cheyenne at State Tournament
Some of the cheerleaders settle in for the long bus ride to Casper for state basketball. A few months earlier, they had also traveled a similar distance to state football in Laramie. Senior Kynzee Hurd shared, "Bus rides with my teammates are always a blast. I'm so grateful I got one last memorable bus ride with the girls who have become my family."

Members of the team eat lunch at the school in Riverton. Tournaments take a long time and students usually have to eat at the school where they are competing. Senior Kennadee Wheeler said, "Depending on the tournament, either the school or parents will feed us, but most of the time we just bring snacks."
Star Valley Speech and Debate Participates in Riverton Regionals
The concert orchestra practices one of the songs that they will play at String-Fest. Conductor Lisa Barber said, "We are working hard in orchestra to learn the music. When we arrive at Stringfest on March 19, we only have that day to rehearse with the students from Jackson and be able to play together as an orchestra for a concert that night, so it's important that we know the music well when we arrive." The orchestra has been working hard for the past 2 weeks to prepare for their first ever high school String-Fest.

The Speech and Debate team poses to celebrate a former member's birthday. The Speech and Debate team is like a family for many members ,and they don't know where they would be without them.
SVHS Speech and Debate Takes 3rd Place at Teton Invitational
The FFA officers stand together in the order in the order of their positions. 2nd-Vice President Lizzy Petersen said, "Some of my favorite things about FFA are the animals we work with (my favorite is definitely the chickens), the constant and never-ending lessons to learn about both agriculture and everyday life, and the enormous family that FFA has throughout the entire nation." Lizzy has been doing FFA for 3 years and is very passionate about her role in it.

While SVHS may have a low College Readiness Index score, one thing it has excelled at is getting 92% seniors to graduation while Sheridan graduates 85% of their seniors.

Dewie Collard Steps into Shoes of Hello Dolly Title Character
The girls and boys of Speech & Debate take a group photo in the cold weather outside of Star Valley High School. The team ended up editing a picture of the speech & debate "ancestors" that comes from their iconic theme "Lets talk it to death." Sophomore Bailey Sperry said, "I am so happy I beat my biggest competition at our recent tournament!"
Forensics Team Moving Through Busy, Successful Season
Eight sophomore friends watch "Letters to Juliet" on Galentines. They had spent the afternoon eating crepes, playing games and laughing a lot. Host Eden Adams said, "It was so fun to be able to hang out with my friends and not have any pressure to act normal around someone."

Dylan Shumway high fives his teammates after making his free throw. Dylan shot a team high 76% from the free throw line. "I like shooting free throws because it makes me calm down and zone back in to."
Braves Lose Close Games at State in Casper
Jase Burton poses with family and coaches after signing for run at BYU. Burton said, "The opportunity to run for BYU is a dream come true." He follows in the spikes of SVHS greats to go to BYU in track and field like former teacher Dave Draney.

Smith Mclure, Dayton Schwab and Cooper Lawson double team Rock Springs' Lionburger. The Tiger big man stands at six foot six inches tall. "He was tall, but not too hard to move around," said Lawson.
Braves Beat Rock Springs to Qualify for State Tournament
Star Valley High School’s girls wrestling team celebrates a state championship title for the 2025 season! After months of intense training, dedication, and grit, these athletes battled their way through tough competition, showcasing their strength, technique, and heart. Their victory showed how much work and effort they put in. Congratulations to the lady's in braids!

The Star Valley boys placed third at the state meet with a total of 64 points, largely contributed by distance runners Jase Burton, Habtamu Wetzel, and Sullivan Wilson. The entire team felt a strong sense of accomplishment and is eager to improve even further next year.

Teenagers are known to be on their phones often, but do other generations understand why? "I do think that some people are addicted, but I think a lot of kids see it as a escape from reality. Just being on my phone for a few minutes after a stressful day helps me relax," explains Gabe Henrie. Most adults view teenagers as phone addicts, but in reality they are just trying to relieve some of the stress that builds up.

PODLESS: Owen Lancaster and Rhen England show what they are missing while working in class. School policy restricts the use of phones and earphones from bell to bell. "No AirPods makes me hate school even more now," said Lancaster. "No phones is understandable, and honestly I don't care about it that much, but the no AirPods rule seems kind of stupid," added England.
