As graduation approaches, many seniors are beginning to think seriously about their future plans. While some students feel confident about what comes next, others say they feel some uncertainty as they prepare to leave high school and begin a new chapter in their lives.
For senior Kassy Taylor, having a clear plan for the future has helped her feel more prepared for life after graduation. “I do feel prepared for life after graduation. I know what my summer job is and where I am going to college and what I am majoring in, so it feels a lot better knowing what my plans are,” Taylor said.

Taylor also believes that getting involved during high school can help students prepare for the future. She encourages younger students to take advantage of opportunities while they can. “I would tell underclassmen to get more community service hours, make more friends, and try as many different activities as you can,” she said.
However, not all seniors feel completely certain about their plans after graduation. Senior Grace Morrison said that even though she has some ideas about her future, there are still many unknowns. “Yes and no. I feel like I know what I am doing after graduation, but none of my plans are set in stone yet, so it is kind of nerve-racking,” Morrison said.
Morrison also shared advice for underclassmen who are beginning to think about their own futures. “I would tell underclassmen to take lots of different classes so they can explore different career options,” she said. She added that students should still take their academics seriously while exploring their interests. “Do not stress too much, but your GPA and college credit classes actually matter.”
While seniors may have different levels of confidence about the future, they agree that high school plays an important role in life after graduation. As the class of 2026 prepared to move forward, their experiences and advice may help younger students begin thinking about their own paths beyond high school.
