Wrestling has never been easy for Cara Andrews. Early mornings while the rest of the house slept, weekends spent cutting weight instead of hanging out, and losses that lingered for days tested her commitment. Progress often felt invisible, and there were moments she wanted to quit. But she stayed. She kept showing up. And without realizing it, she built something strong—something that could carry her to the next level.
On January 19, Andrews signed her National Letter of Intent to wrestle at Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska.
“I’m so excited to start this next chapter of my life and to experience college wrestling,” Andrews said.
The decision came after careful consideration of several programs, but Midland stood out from her first visit.
“I love the team, the coaches, and the town, and from the moment I visited, it felt like the right place for me,” Andrews said.
The absence of her sister, who has shared countless milestones and car rides home, weighs on her. The transition to college will mark the first time the sisters have pursued separate paths, adding both excitement and uncertainty to Andrews’ next chapter.
“It’s scary going to a completely new place by myself and without my sister, but I know this opportunity will really push me to grow as a wrestler and a person, and I can’t wait,” Andrews said.
Andrews knows that growth is rarely comfortable—wrestling taught her that. It also taught her that the Star Valley wrestling team is family.
As the applause faded and people lined up for hugs and photos, Andrews glanced back at the mat one more time. This place shaped her—every drill, every loss, every hard-earned win. She isn’t leaving it behind. She’s carrying it with her.
College wrestling will be harder, faster, and more demanding than anything she’s faced before. But for the first time, that doesn’t scare Andrews. It energizes her.
On January 19, Andrews didn’t just sign to wrestle at Midland University. She stepped forward—confident, nervous, ready—into the next version of herself.
