WARNING: This game is not for the light-hearted who are easily disturbed by blood/gore and the strong language used in this game.
A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead is a survival horror game developed by Stormind Games and published by Saber Interactive. Stormind is not a massive game company which has developed a few, mostly mediocre, games such as Remothered: Tormented Fathers, Remothered: Broken Porcelain and Batora: Lost Haven, but they have redeemed themselves with Road Ahead.
This game was released on Oct. 17 on multiple platforms for $29.99.
Based on the popular movie A Quiet Place that came out in 2018, Stormind cashed in on the fame and popularity of the flick.
This game survival horror game is played from the first perspective of main character Alex Taylor. The character has asthma which makes for some interesting twists in this game. Any sound made by a character results in their downfall from blind, hostile, extraterrestrial creatures with enhanced hypersensitive hearing that kill any chance they get.
With this type of game players will mostly play defense, hiding from the monsters and with little combat against them. Characters have a little gadget to help them hide from the monsters called a Phonometer. Two bars gauge environmental and sounds the character makes such as opening doors and walking around. Players must use environmental sound to conceal their own. Too much noise and you’re dead.
Youtubers and Twitch streamers have a mic system placed into the game making talking even risker!
Will this game be a smash hit or will it flop like the majority of movies turned into games? I suspect the former.
