The boys soccer team is already getting to work as they prepare for the upcoming soccer season. On March 3rd, players gathered for a meeting and open field session to start getting ready for tryouts. The goal of the meeting was to help players prepare physically and mentally for the season ahead.
The preparation was organized by the team’s head coach, who set up the meeting and open field so players could begin training together before official tryouts. During open field, players focused on improving their conditioning, practicing skills, and reconnecting with teammates after the offseason.
Many players are using the time to improve their fitness and sharpen their abilities. Hudson Hyde, a member of the boys soccer team, said he has been working hard to prepare. “I am preparing for tryout by going to open field and working on my endurance,” Hyde said. He also shared his main goal for the season: “My goal for this season is to win.”
For some players, the season is also about the experience of playing with teammates. Jonah Finch said he is looking forward to spending time on the field with his friends. “Something I am most excited about soccer is to play with my friends,” Finch said.
Other players are preparing to return after setbacks. Raiden Haderlie is especially excited for the new season after missing his freshman year due to an injury. “I am excited for the chance to get back after being hurt all my freshman year,” Haderlie said. While he admits there are still some nerves, he remains optimistic. “I am a little nervous, because I don’t want to get hurt again, but I am mainly excited.”
As tryouts approach, the boys soccer team continues to train and build team chemistry. With players focused on improving their endurance, supporting each other, and working toward their goals, the team hopes their preparation will lead to a successful season.
