The Star Valley High School boys wrestling team delivered an unforgettable performance at the Wyoming State Wrestling Championships, earning an impressive third-place finish overall and cementing their place among the state’s elite programs. Competing with grit, discipline, and relentless determination, the Braves proved that hard work and tradition continue to define wrestling in Star Valley.
One of the most thrilling moments of the tournament came at 120 pounds, where freshman Caleb Lawrance stunned the crowd with a dramatic 11–10 victory in the championship finals. In a back-and-forth match that kept fans on the edge of their seats, Lawrance showed poise beyond his years, battling through every exchange and securing the winning points in the closing moments. Winning a state title as a freshman is a rare accomplishment, and Lawrance’s performance signals a bright future for Star Valley wrestling. After the match, Lawrance reflected on his accomplishment, saying, “Winning State was one of the best feelings ever. I spent hours preparing physically and mentally through training and eating.”

The Parry brothers once again showcased their dominance on the state’s biggest stage. Kimball Parry captured his third state title at 132 pounds, further solidifying his legacy as one of the top wrestlers in the program’s history. Wrestling with confidence and precision, Parry controlled his bracket and finished the season exactly where he intended—at the top of the podium.

Tel Parry made history at 144 pounds by winning his fourth state championship, becoming the first wrestler in Star Valley history to accomplish the feat. His achievement also places him among an elite group statewide, as he becomes only the 32nd four-time state champion in Wyoming history. Reflecting on his historic accomplishment, Parry said, “It felt good; there was a lot of sure release that I did not know how to build up. There’s a pretty big sense of fulfillment as well. It’s been a goal for me since as long as I can remember. And the preparation for it really was my whole life. I have been working for it since I started wrestling, and without the consistent workouts and training and setbacks through the years, I would not have been able to accomplish it.” Tel’s consistency, leadership, and determination have set a new standard for excellence within the program.
With a third-place team finish, a freshman champion, a three-time champion, and a historic four-time champion, the Star Valley Braves wrestling team demonstrated that their tradition of excellence is stronger than ever. This year’s state tournament will be remembered not only for medals and titles, but for the heart, resilience, and history made on the mat.
