After months of practices, countless jumps, and endless dedication, three indoor track athletes are ready to take the next step in their season. Sophomore high jumper Ruby Gaskell, freshman long jumper Ruby Morgan, and junior sprinter Kaelyn Green are preparing to compete at the State Indoor Track Meet on Thursday, March 5, 2026, held at the Campbell County Recreation Center Field House.
Since the season began on January 5, 2026, these athletes have focused on building strength, refining technique, and pushing themselves to improve with every practice. Their hard work and determination have set the stage for an exciting state competition.
For Gaskell, growth has been the highlight of the season. “I’ve worked on my form and timing all season, and it’s really paid off,” she said. High jump requires precision and confidence, and she has dedicated herself to sharpening both. “I’ve grown a lot as an athlete since the beginning of the season. For state, I’m focusing on perfecting my approach and staying mentally prepared.”
Morgan has seen steady progress in the long jump since January. “The season has been a great challenge, and I can see my progress,” she said. “I’m excited for state and want to perform at my best. Preparation is key, focusing on technique and staying confident.”
Green has also embraced the hard work required to compete at a high level in sprinting. “Every practice counts, and I’ve learned to push myself harder out of the blocks and through the finish,” she said. “My times have dropped, and I feel ready for state this weekend. I plan to focus on my start, stay relaxed, and trust my speed.”
Track coach Tyson Balls has witnessed their development throughout the season. “These athletes have shown incredible growth this season,” he said. “Their work ethic and determination will help them succeed at state. I’m proud of how far they’ve come and their preparation for the meet.”
With months of preparation behind them, Gaskell, Morgan, and Green are ready to showcase their dedication and skill, hoping to set personal bests and make their mark among the top athletes in the state.
