Both the girls’ and boys’ basketball teams had a successful road trip to Riverton, Wyoming, coming home with all-around victories after a long four-hour drive across the state.
The girls’ team set the tone early, earning a strong 46-30 win. Through solid defense and consistent scoring, the team maintained control of the game and shut down Riverton’s offensive efforts. The win was a true team effort, highlighting the girls’ chemistry and determination on the court.
The boys followed with an impressive 73-48 victory, pulling away as the game progressed. Their fast-paced offense and aggressive defense proved too much for Riverton, allowing them to secure a comfortable win and finish the night undefeated on the road.
For senior players, the trip meant more than just another pair of wins. Co-captain Cooper Lancaster was proud of his team effort. “This win was bigger than people think because we went into Riverton and lost to them last year and that is a tough place to play so that shows that our team can go into any environment and take care of business, whether it’s through offense, defense or both,” said Lancaster.
Senior Livy Kleeman reflected on the challenges of balancing basketball with school friendships and everyday life. “It’s hard for me to balance all those things sometimes because I can get really stressed out over the silliest things. There are obviously some nights that after practice I will hang out with my friends and drive around and not do much. It’s hard, but the older I get, the easier it has gotten to balance everything.”
Co-captain Dylan Shumway talked about his season so far and why he loves being a captain. “The thing I will miss most is just spending time with my team. These guys have become my family, and I will definitely miss being with them. The way I’m soaking up all the time with them is just by being in the moment. Focusing 1 game at a time and just enjoying every chance I get to play with them, whether in practice or games. Just enjoying playing ball with them.”
Both teams showed resilience, focus, and teamwork throughout the trip, proving that the long hours on the road were worth it. With strong performances from underclassmen and leadership from seniors, the Riverton games marked another successful chapter in the season and built momentum for upcoming matchups.
