Snowcoming week at Star Valley High School is shaping up to be one of the most energetic and student-driven weeks of the year, combining school spirit, themed dress-up days, assemblies, sports events, and a brand-new Valentine’s Dating Game that has already sparked excitement across campus. From February 2nd through February 6th, the halls of SVHS will be filled with neon colors, throwback outfits, holiday costumes, and high energy as students come together to celebrate school spirit and connection during the winter.
One of the biggest highlights of the week is the Valentine’s Dating Game, featuring seniors Ainsley Bowman and Mckray Barnes as the main participants. The game is designed as a blind dating experience, where multiple contestants are hidden and disguised using voice changers. As the game progresses, Ainsley and Mckray will ask questions and eliminate contestants based on their answers, keeping the audience entertained while maintaining the mystery of who is behind each voice. The interactive event adds a playful and engaging element to Snowcoming that is new to many students.

Senior Ainsley Bowman shared her excitement—and nerves—about participating in the Dating Game. “Yeah so the SBO asked me to participate in the dating game. I’m definitely a little bit nervous but I’m super excited!” Bowman said. She added that the experience is meant to be fun and memorable, joking, “I think this will add to my mom lore!” Bowman also encouraged student participation, saying, “I’m super excited to blind date all the single bachelors of Star Valley High School!” She explained that the incentive doesn’t hurt either, adding, “I’m looking forward to getting free Agave no matter what so sign up for the dating game to get some free Agave with me!” When asked what she’s looking for, Bowman said, “I’m looking for someone who is funny, can make me laugh, but still kind!”
Senior Mckray Barnes also commented on his motivation for participating in the Dating Game, keeping the tone lighthearted. “I’m mostly excited about the free gift card to Agave,” Barnes said, reinforcing the student council’s goal of keeping the event fun and low-pressure.
Snowcoming week also features a full lineup of themed dress-up days designed to boost student involvement throughout the week. Monday kicks off with Ski Bum Day, followed by Neon Day and a pep assembly on Tuesday. Wednesday is Holiday Class Battle Day, where each class dresses as a different holiday, along with the Dating Game assembly, making it one of the most anticipated days of the week. Thursday brings SV Throwback Day and another pep assembly, while Friday wraps up with Onesie Day, an ice cream social, and the Sweethearts Dance.
The Sweethearts Dance will take place Friday night from 8:30 to 11:00 p.m. in the SVHS commons. The dance follows a boys-ask tradition, with tickets sold by Treble Tones girls for $15 for singles and $20 for couples. The dance serves as the grand finale of Snowcoming week, giving students a chance to celebrate together. Students can also purchase flowers throughout the week to give to someone special.
Snowcoming extends beyond the school day with athletic events and evening activities. Tuesday features a Braves wrestling duel with a neon theme, while Thursday night includes basketball games with an SV spirit and throwback theme, followed by a movie night.
Behind the scenes, the student council spent months preparing Snowcoming. Senior Italy Erickson explained the planning process. “For Snowcoming, we planned each day very specifically and put different people in charge of different parts to make sure everything runs smoothly,” Erickson said. She added, “We really wanted to make it a bigger deal than it has been in past years and get more people involved!” Erickson noted that she is especially excited about “having fun activities going on all week and seeing everyone enjoy it together.”
Senior Bria Jack, another student leader, emphasized the importance of both tradition and new ideas. “I’m looking forward to keeping old traditions and starting new ones,” Jack said. She explained her role in organizing the Dating Game, adding, “I’ve been in charge of the dating game with Hallie and getting everything ready for that, and it’s so much fun to see student involvement and students getting excited for new activities.” Jack also shared that she’s excited for “sweethearts and seeing what everyone shows up in for the dress-up days.”
Faculty members are also supportive of the week’s events. Teacher Adam Baker explained the overall purpose of Snowcoming. “So, snowcoming, we’re just trying to get everybody involved,” Baker said. He added, “It’s homecoming during the snow time, so we do all that fun stuff for homecoming.” Baker explained that the goal is participation, noting, “We’re gonna try to get people out to basketball games, wrestling matches, just trying to get kids involved, followed up by a dance.” He summed it up simply, saying, “We’re just trying to have fun.”
At its core, Snowcoming week is about bringing students together and strengthening school spirit. With interactive assemblies, themed dress-up days, athletic events, and social activities, Star Valley High School’s Snowcoming offers something for everyone. Whether students are dressing up, cheering at games, participating in the Dating Game, or dancing at Sweethearts, the week is designed to create lasting memories.
With enthusiastic leadership, intentional planning, and strong student involvement, Snowcoming 2026 is set to be one of the most memorable weeks of the school year.
