Wyoming’s State Spirit Competition was held on January 23, 2026, bringing together dance and cheer teams from across the state for a day of high-energy performances. Star Valley High School competed at the 4A level in both cheer and dance, representing the Braves with pride and determination.
The SVHS cheer team competed in both Game Day and All-Girl Cheer divisions, placing 7th in each category. Senior Dallas Erickson highlighted the importance of teamwork and trust throughout the season. “As a team we have all had to learn how to grow and trust each other in knowing we will do our job,” Erickson said. “Cheer is very much a team sport that is based on knowing you will all go to where you are supposed to be and catch when you are supposed to.” She added that although she has been on state teams for the past three years, this group stood out for its strong bond. “We have had plenty of our ups and downs, but we still have a bond, and I know that no matter where I am in life, if I need anything they will be there for me.”
The Star Valley Brave Cadettes also delivered a strong performance, placing 5th in the hip hop division. Co-Captain Madyson Mosgeller, who has been on the team for two years, reflected on the team’s growth throughout the season. “This year our team really improved on trusting ourselves and the team through performances and practice,” Mosgeller said. Both teams’ performances showcased their hard work, dedication, and the strong sense of unity that carried them through the season and onto the state stage.
