The Star Valley drama department took an emotional and historically accurate one-act play reenacting the events of 9/11 called Hole in the Sky to their state competition, but not before performing it for the student body.
Staged in the auditorium on December 2nd, 2025, the production depicts several individuals navigating the devastated interior of the World Trade Center as they fight to survive. Though many roles represent unnamed victims, only three named characters make it through the tragedy.
The cast spent weeks studying real survivor testimonies, timelines, and audio recordings to ensure accuracy and respect. Every number and major event in the performance reflects the factual sequence of the attacks. As the story reaches its final minutes, every character confronts the truth that they will not make it out. This somber ending mirrors the reality faced by those trapped inside the towers and left audiences silent, reflective, and emotional.
The play became both an educational experience and an emotional journey for the students involved. “I truly will never understand the fear and pain everyone felt,” cast member Abigail England said, capturing the sentiment many felt after learning the real stories of 9/11.
