Star Valley Singcopation represented their school at the honor clinic choir event, joining select advanced students from across western Wyoming. Ethan Erye shared, “It’s a really fun experience to meet so many people and especially it being my first concert.”
For two days, students rehearsed and performed four songs chosen by the director from Southern Utah University: Fiddler Man, Goodnight Dear Heart, Ave Verum Corpus, and Hark! I Hear the Harps Eternal.
Beyond rehearsals, students participated in a traditional white elephant gift exchange, fun games, and enjoyed singing around the pool. Brannen Fullmer reflected on his experience, saying, “This was my second year at honor clinic, and out of those two times I’d have to say my favorite part is just being with the choir and goofing around the hotel room and whatnot. Singing is just a side note on this trip. I pull up for the shenanigans.”
The event took place on November 24 and 25. Hallie Hokanson said, “I like learning to work with new people! You kind of get used to singing with the same people, so it’s cool to get to sing with all sorts of different people”. Around 100 students attended this clinic.
Mountain View High School welcomed choirs from around the region, providing a space for performance, collaboration, and fun. Kari Allred explained, “Honor clinic was a great time for Singco to get together and sing music in a genre that they don’t typically sing. It helps them expand their music vocabulary and knowledge along with having some fun team bonding.”
Students left the event energized and inspired, not only by the music but by the friendships and memories formed. The Honor Clinic Choir offered a unique opportunity to explore new musical styles, connect with peers, and enjoy the fun side of choir life.
