The volleyball team made history at the 4A State Tournament in Casper on November 7–8. The Braves faced tough competition, losing their first match in four sets, bouncing back to win their second in three, and finishing the tournament with a hard-fought three-set loss. Despite two losses, the team celebrated a major milestone, their first win at a 4A State Tournament in several years.
The Braves’ success was driven by seniors Addy Christiansen, Camryn Makey, Shyna Casey, Braxtin Ware, and Hallie Hokanson, whose leadership both on and off the court kept the team focused and motivated. Junior Charlee Neueschwander reflected, “I think our team was outstanding at working for something bigger than ourselves.”
Even players who hadn’t seen varsity action this season got a chance to contribute. Macey Schwab, and Tayley Campbell earned playing time at state, showing their dedication and readiness to support the team whenever needed. Their effort highlighted the depth and unity of the Braves’ roster.
The journey to state was a result of teamwork and dedication. Every player pushed not just for themselves, but for the whole team. Addy Christiansen said, “What was most memorable this season were the friendships and memories we made together as a team.” Coach Schwab added, “I felt like we did pretty good as a team and worked really well together at state this year. I’m glad that we don’t have to travel to Casper again for a while.”
While the Lady Braves didn’t take home a championship, they proved that hard work, commitment, and supporting each other can lead to historic moments. The experience marked a milestone for Star Valley volleyball and created memories, friendships, and lessons that will last a lifetime.
For Star Valley, this state tournament was more than just a competition; it was a celebration of teamwork, determination, and the love of the game. They may have lost two matches, but they started a legacy.
