Star Valley High School’s marching band proudly brought home a second-place trophy from the State Competition on October 18, with the Color Guard receiving a Caption Award for their outstanding performance. The band narrowly missed first place by just half a point, marking one of the closest finishes in recent years.
Before heading to state, the band performed for the student body in the gymnasium on October 16, showcasing their hard work and building excitement for the competition ahead.
The band delivered an impressive performance of “Havana Nocturno,” a piece inspired by 1950s Cuban music. Mr. Sand’s intricate choreography and meticulous attention to detail ensured every note was in tune and on beat.

“I love the sense of belonging that band brings and the experiences that it provides,” said Kassy Taylor, Color Guard captain and senior. “I made memories that will last a lifetime.”
The performance capped off a season full of growth, teamwork, and passion, proving once again that the Star Valley Marching Band continues to set a high standard of excellence both on and off the field.
