Candidates running for the SBO elections put a lot into their campaigns with every member of the Gold ticket taking close wins over their Red ticket opponents.
After the SBO elections week, here’s who the electorate voted into office:
SBO Pres: Janey Young
SBO VP: Hallie Hokanson
SBO Secretary: Bria Jack
SBO Treasurer: Italy Erickson
When asked why she decided to run, Italy Erickson shared, “I wanted to help make school stuff more fun and actually worth showing up to. I just want to help make this year feel exciting and give people things to look forward to.”
Hallie Hokanson added, “I really love being a part of student council and planning activities for the school, so I thought SBO V.P. would be a great way to stay involved.”
Winning came with a diverse mix of emotions. “I was honestly in shock. It didn’t feel real at first,” shared Erickson, the new SBO treasurer. “I was super excited and so grateful, but also a little sad for the Red team. I know how much work everyone put into the week, and it couldn’t have been easy. Overall, I just felt really thankful and proud of everyone who ran.”
The first few days in office have been good. “It has actually been pretty casual so far,” said Hokanson. “A lot of work and effort went into SBO week and Prom planning, so we have been taking this week to recover and reflect on last week.”
“Everyone on the Gold team worked so hard and truly cared about making a difference, so winning together was the best feeling ever. I think we’ll be such a good team, and I can’t wait for the year ahead,” said Erickson.
The new SBO officers will start immediately and even work over the summer to make sure the 2025-26 year will be a success.
