AFTON, Wyo. — The cheerleaders recently had the incredible opportunity to support and cheer on athletes during a spring Special Olympics event held in the gym. The day was filled with energy, excitement and unforgettable moments as the cheerleaders proudly encouraged participants throughout their activities.
The event kicked off with the Braves cheerleaders teaching the Special Olympics athletes several fun routines. They began with a short, basketball-themed cheer to start the day, followed by a longer, more spirited cheer midway through the event. To wrap things up, the group joined together for a lively “Just Dance” routine. The athletes picked up the moves quickly, bringing their own energy and enthusiasm to each cheer and dance.
After learning the routines, the athletes participated in a series of basketball drills that highlighted their skills and determination. They dribbled as many times as they could within a set time, raced down the court while maintaining control of the ball, and took shots from various spots around the gym—all with heart and focus.
Throughout the day, the Brave Cheerleaders were right there beside them, leading chants, offering encouragement and celebrating every accomplishment. Whether it was a perfect dribble, a fast sprint or a basket made, the cheerleaders made sure every athlete felt like a star, calling out names and cheering with pride.
“It was so much fun and so special to be able to cheer them on,” said cheerleader Dallas Erickson. “Their smiles and excitement made it one of the best experiences we’ve had all year.”
The team continued their enthusiastic support as the athletes received their awards, clapping, chanting and recognizing every individual’s hard work and achievements. It was an inspiring day marked by smiles, laughter and true team spirit.
After the event, the cheerleaders gathered for one final team lunch at the Roadhouse. As they looked back on their season, they shared memories and laughter, making the most of their time together before closing out the year. It was a bittersweet but fitting end to a day—and a season—they’ll never forget.
The cheerleaders felt grateful to have been a part of such a meaningful event and are proud to have ended their cheer season by lifting up others in their community.
