This year, SVHS hosted its annual MORP dance on Saturday, April 12, where students gathered to socialize and celebrate together. While everyone enjoyed the evening, the music selection presented the only significant drawback—lacking variety and starting with songs that weren’t ideal for dancing. Despite this minor issue, the event provided an excellent opportunity for students to connect and enjoy each other’s company.
The limited musical diversity became apparent as the night progressed. SeniorMadison Strgar said, “My only suggestion for future dances would be creating a playlist with a mix of mosh pit, swing dances, and slow songs to keep more people engaged throughout the night.” Although most students had fun, some left early due to the repetitive music. A more diverse playlist would likely have enhanced the experience and encouraged more students to stay until the end.
The Hawaiian theme proved to be a highlight of the evening, bringing a cheerful, springtime atmosphere to SVHS. “The theme was very creative and fun,” remarked Afton Hunting. Students embraced the tropical concept, with many taking the opportunity to coordinate outfits with their dates or friends, adding to the festive environment.
The event was ultimately a success, with refreshments contributing to the lively atmosphere. The theme, company, and shirts brought students together on the dance floor, creating lasting memories of their night at MORP.
