Here at Star Valley High School, as you walk through the halls and sit in class, you’ll frequently see students with energy drinks in hand. These beverages serve as a popular source of fuel to help students power through their day. The vibrant colors, distinctive can designs, catchy names, and diverse flavors all contribute to the appeal of these drinks.
Cameron Hansen, a student at the school, reports consuming about three energy drinks per week, while her classmate Tayley Campbell averages around two. Both students say they’re particularly fond of Monster’s pineapple punch and mango flavors. They notice the effects quickly after consumption, feeling more energized and finding it easier to focus and learn.
Despite widespread awareness of the potential health concerns associated with energy drinks, their popularity makes them difficult to eliminate from student life.
The consumption habits of Hansen and Campbell suggest that energy drinks aren’t necessarily highly addictive. The key is moderation and self-discipline. Those who can limit their intake and prioritize proper nutrition can enjoy energy drinks occasionally without developing problematic consumption patterns.
In essence, with proper self-control and attention to overall health, energy drinks need not become an overwhelming issue.
