Distance Runner Jase Burton Shatters State Record in Boys 4A 1600-Meter Run. He set a new state record in the boys 4A 1600-meter run, breaking the previous mark by 2.8 seconds with a final time of 4 minutes and 12.01 seconds. The last time this record was broken was in 2021 by Peter Visser.
Habtamu Wetzel and Sullivan Wilson also performed exceptionally, securing second and third place in the same race. In addition to his record-breaking achievement, Jase recently signed with Brigham Young University. Reflecting on his milestone, he shared: "It was super awesome to finally break the mile record. I walk into practice every day and look at the record board on the wall to keep myself motivated, so it's an honor to get to put my name up there again."

The Star Valley boys placed third at the state meet with a total of 64 points, largely contributed by distance runners Jase Burton, Habtamu Wetzel, and Sullivan Wilson. The entire team felt a strong sense of accomplishment and is eager to improve even further next year.
