As the Star Valley Lady Braves approach regionals, they are aware of the hard work they have put in throughout the season to reach this point. Every player and coach has contributed immense effort, shaping the team into a state qualifier.
Several players reflected on the highlights of their season. Makell Haderlie shared, “The overnight trips were fun, and just being able to chat with everyone and have fun as a team was a great experience.”
Austyn Bagley recalled, “Senior night was a highlight for me because I was able to start one last time after tearing my ACL, score a three-pointer, and play with my team one final time.” The girls cherish the time they have spent together, recognizing the deep bonds they have formed.
Head coach Kade Erickson emphasized the team’s overarching goal: “The main focus was to be successful at regionals, but more importantly, to reach state while allowing the girls to enjoy the experience.” He also noted a personal highlight: “Our weekend in Casper was memorable because it was a huge confidence booster for our team.”
Throughout the season, the Lady Braves grew together, constantly pushing each other to improve. They understood that success required dedication and effort, and even when the ball didn’t always bounce in their favor, they proved themselves to be a remarkable team, never failing to make their supporters proud.
Heading into regionals as the number-one seed, the Lady Braves secured a hard-fought 39-34 victory over Rock Springs in their opening game. Despite a tough loss to Green River the following day, they bounced back with two strong performances. Their first game on the final day—a crucial matchup against Evanston to qualify for state—was intense, but they prevailed with a 44-33 win. They closed out the tournament in third place after defeating Kelly Walsh 46-35.
