S Tier
Kendrick Lamar – Kanye West – The Notorious BIG – Travis Scott – Method Man – Q-tip – Snoop Dogg – MF Doom – Ice Cube
Why? – We put these rappers in S tier because we feel like they are either the most influential, and/or they have a very listenable discography. We went through and made sure that we were unbiased on wether we liked them or not and based everything on their career as rappers.
Best Albums – Good Kid m.A.A.d City, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Ready to Die, Astroworld, 36 Chambers, Low End Theory, Doggystyle, Madvillainy, Lethal Injection
A Tier
Drake – Tupac – Lil Wayne – Nas – Ghostface Killa – Future – Asap Rocky – Tyler, The Creator
Why? These Rappers are definitely some of the more influential rappers of their time, but in our opinion, they either have good discography, but aren’t very influential, or vice versa.
Best Albums – Nothing Was the Same – The Carter III, Illmatic, 36 Chambers, We Don’t Trust You, Long. Live. ASAP, Wolf
B Tier
Jay-z – Eminem – Dr Dre – Rakim – Andre 3000 – Scarface
Why? We put these rappers at B tier even though a lot of people would put these rappers at S tier. The reason we did this is because we personally feel like some of these guys are a little overrated. Not saying that they aren’t good, we just don’t think that they should be higher up on the list.
Best Albums – Reasonable Doubt, Eminem Show, The Chronic, The Master, Aquamini, The Diary
C Tier
Nicki Minaj – J. Cole – Big Pun – Busta Rhymes – Rick Ross – Mos Deaf – Pusha T
Why? We think that these artist are mostly featured artists. They have some good songs, but most of their good songs are from features, so its not really fair to put them higher up on the list.
Best Albums – Pink Friday, 2014 Forest Hills Drive, Capital Punishment, Extinction Level Event, Teflon Don, Black on Both Sides, Daytona
D Tier
50 Cent – Ludacris – DMX – Childish Gambino
Why? These are like the lower-tier featured artists. Most of these guys are good but just don’t have enough to make it higher on this list. A lot of their albums are good, but most of them are misses, so we had to put them D Tier.
Best Albums – Get Rich or Die Trying, Word of Mouf, It’s Dark and Hell is Hot, Because the Internet
E Tier
Ice Tea – Meek Mill – Young Thug – Chief Keef – Juice WRLD
Why? These rappers are like one trick ponies. They had impact when they were popular, but after that they aren’t really talked about amongst the rap community in our opinion.
Best Albums – Power, Championships, So Much Fun, Finally Rich, Goodbye and Good Riddance
F Tier
Gucci Mane – P Diddy – Cardi B
Why? Straight trash
Best Albums – Trap House, Press Play, Invasion of Privacy
