Thanks to the large amounts of snow the valley and other places have received recently, more and more people are starting to get out their sleds and head to the mountains.
When looking for somewhere to ride many locals and visitors choose the south end, the reason being that the south end offers good snow and is a good place to play around. It is also easy to access but offers challenging terrain for riders to travers.
“There’s nothing better than getting up in the morning to hangout with my friends and go hit the fresh powder on a clear sunny day and find some trails that lead to a spot that you can see different mountain ranges,” said senior Quinn Simpson.
While some riders choose to rip their new sleds, others ride alternative vehicles like snowbikes.
Senior Spencer Heiner likes to take a different approach to playing on the snow. He rides his Husqvarna 35o with a timber sled. “I prefer to ride a bike on the snow just because I find that I can do a lot that the people with snowmobiles can do, and I don’t have to pay as much for it. I also think that it’s easier to maneuver a snowbike than a sled. I also have just as much fun on a bike as a sled.”
With more snow undoubtedly in the forecast over the next few months, snowmobilers will have more chances to get out of school and hit the powder.
