Over the break when everyone was home sleeping in, the Lady Braves were showing up and putting in the work traveling to Green River for the Flaming Gorge tournament featuring schools from all over Wyoming.
The girls left on Thursday Dec. 19 and came home Saturday Dec. 20. The Lady Braves went 1-3 and had a very good weekend, achieving their win due to the communication and the flow of the team. As the season goes on they will continue to improve and give other teams a good run for their money. The girls chemistry grows every year and makes the team better and better.
The Lady Braves don’t just play basketball together, but they also hang out and have fun on the road. Senior Emily Dana said, “It was super fun; we had lot fun just hanging out in the hotel and on the bus ride.”
Many amazing opportunities came from playing in this tournament. Ambrey Nelson said, “It’s so fun to go stay 2 nights with the team and bond with the girls. It’s one of my favorite tournaments.”
As the tournament went on, both varsity and JV Lady Braves played 3 games. JV won all 3 games and show how quickly they are progressing. Varsity won 1 out of their 3 games, but improved over all to become better in the end. Nelson added, “The Flaming Gorge tournament is really fun! We play really good teams that we usually never see, so it’s a great way to improve.”
With much still needing to be worked on, the Lady Braves will figure it out and push through. They play more games every weekend are hopeful of seeing fans turn out to support them. The basketball team will also continue to hit the road and work hard while their classmates are sleeping in and enjoying their weekends.
