Friday’s 61-7 over win over Green River on October 25 for the football team was a special one as all seniors were honored for their football careers prior to the start of the game. The senior players were escorted by their families and given gifts in honor of their last regular season home game.
Most of the players recognized have watched many seniors honored before them. Bryson Nield said, “It was definitely cool to be honored. It’s also really sad to think high school football is almost over for me, especially after all the hard work and time I’ve put into it. Most of all I’ll miss playing with the boys.” Nield did not disappoint on this night. He ended with 6 catches, 90 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns.
After four years of SV football, these seniors have made lots of memories worth remembering. Smith McClure recalls one in particular. He said, “My junior year wme and Tina (Tristen Hilton) balled up at Cody. I threw for like 200 yards and Tina rushed for 4 touchdowns, and we snapped Cody’s 5 year home game winning streak.” This is Smith’s second starting at QB for the Braves.
Emotional and special, that is senior night. Although these seniors would go on to play on Braves Field again during the playoffs, their regular season exploits are now part of history.
