As expected Star Valley Braves made light work of the Lander Tiger this past weekend, but it wasn’t as easy as many expected for a few reasons.
The first was the temperature. The night of the game the cold rolled in and it wasn’t pleasant for the players. Sophomore Roman Erickson said, ” When you were in the game it wasn’t too bad because of all the movement, but when you got onto the sideline it got cold fast, and you would tense up a bit.”
The Braves didn’t have the easiest time with the Tigers who had some fight. Junior Lander running back Brandon Baker was particularly troublesome for the Braves’ defense. Senior Kolter Martinsen said, “He [Baker] was a player that we would always have to fight, a long with their quick slant.”
Lander was hoping to extend their season, but the Braves weren’t going to let their season end either. Senior Rylee Erickson said, “We came out strong and diminished their hope within the first few plays.”
As a result of the hometown team’s determination, the Lander Tigers made a quick exit after the first round of the playoffs. Next up for the Braves, the Riverton Wolverines.
