You cannot have homecoming week without powder puff, and this year did not disappoint. It was the underclassmen who came out on top. The freshman defeated the sophomores six to zero while the juniors defeated the seniors twenty six to fourteen.
The soph/frosh game was definitely a weird one. The sophomores were in possession of the ball for nearly the whole game, resulting in the freshmen running just under ten offensive plays all game. The only score of the game came from a fumble recovery returned for seventy yards by Paisley Harbach. “I didn’t even really know what was going on. I just grabbed the ball and ran,” said Harbach. Overall, the 9th/10th-graders had fun with powderpuff and look forward to competing next year.
The main event of the night was for sure the junior/senior masterclass. Both age groups have some great athletes which lead to big play after big play all game.
One such play-maker for the seniors was Atlee Button who scored two touchdowns in the game. One of the stars of the show for the juniors was Ambery Nelson. She said, “It was really fun to play with all of the girls. It was fun to spread the ball around since we had so many good players!” Nelson was the junior class QB, so she participated in a large part of the juniors big plays.
The effort, fun, and passion these girls put into their play entertained the large crowd that showed up to cheer them on.
