You can’t have fall sports without Special Olympics. This year Special Olympics was a huge success with a whole bunch of people coming out to support the athletes. As someone who has a special needs brother, I love how our school is so supportive of the kids who participated in that event.
Usually the fall Special Olympics take place outside on the track wi th many events such as the 25m, 50m, 75m, 100m, 100m bike race, and 400m bike race. These events did not disappoint this year. The athletes gave it their all, and they put on a show for the fans in attendance.
Multiple teachers brought their classes out to support those competing. Swift Creek High School also came out to support these kids. Students from Etna Elementary School even showed up with posters and everything! The SVHS cheerleaders also came out and cheered them on.
The athletes think of this event as game day. They really lock in and focus and are rewarded with medals for their efforts. Some of the biggest smiles of the day came when the athletes got up on that podium and got their medals. Their faces just lit up as the received their hardware and smiled for the camera. The biggest roars from the crowd came when the athletes would show off there muscles for the camera.
These Special Olympians gave it their all and made it a really fun event for themselves and all those who showed up to watch and cheer them on.
