Fall sports are as much a part of school starting as students getting their computers back.
The football season got off to a great start on Aug. 30 with a 44-0 win over Shelley and continued in the same way on Sept. 9 with a 49-13 win over Preston a week later.
Senior receiver Bryson Nield has contributed to his team’s early success as much as anyone. “I feel like the team is performing really well. We all clicked in our first game, and it feels like we picked up right where we left off.”
Although the Braves are off to a great start, they have a lot of football left to play before they hopefully lift another championship trophy in Laramie. “I feel that it will be a very successful season. All of us are putting in the work and have put in work during the entire off season. Through weights and summer workouts, we have all devoted time and effort into this year,” said Nield, who feels happy to come back with a successful first game. He scored 3 touchdowns after suffering a collarbone injury over the summer.
As for the volleyball team, returning varsity hitter senior Atlee Button joined her team at the net at their first tournament in Cheyenne on August 31st. “I think we have a lot of young girls that have stepped up and are already doing great things. We already have a pretty strong bond as a team that will take us far if we can continue to grow throughout the rest of the season.”
Button has made the switch from an outside hitter last year to a right side hitter now.”One of my personal goals for the season is to be versatile and be able to perform well in every position. I also just want to end the season feeling satisfied with the whole season overall knowing that the whole team always gave 100%.”
Although students can see if the Braves won or lost on their computers, the Braves would rather they show up in person to cheer.
