The groundbreaking sandbox video game, Minecraft, was initially released on May 17, 2009. Minecraft offers an infinite world of creativity where players can build anything their heart desires. How does Minecraft hold up in 2019 one might ask?

Speaking as someone who grew up with this legendary game, I believe this game is still one of the most fun games around. I, alongside millions of other players, enjoy the relaxed feel of the game and the limitless possibilities for play with both friends and in single player.

I love that Minecraft does not fall into the mainstream category along with hundreds first person shooter games that to me feel very repetitive and lack noticeable differences between each game. Minecraft still produces the excitement of being in harm’s way, giving the need to fight off zombies and skeletons. The combination of both a creative playground of blocks and a healthy amount of danger creates an amazingly different gaming experience.

FREEDOM: Endless opportunities at every player fingertips.

Despite fairly common, minor bugs, the game still runs smoothly for the majority of the time. The end boss gives players the option to technically “beat” the game rather than just merely play it which appeals to my competitive side. Overall, I love the game’s amazing creative aspect that made it so popular and able to maintain millions of users for 10 years. Ok, I love it, but what do other gamers think?

What do you think about Minecraft?

Freshman Winston Green: “That’s a hard one. Everyone went through that phase. I even used to play it.”

Sophomore Emily Strasburg: “I remember downloading it once in like 5th grade, and I liked it for about a week then I got bored.”

Bear Lake Junior Evinn Nate: “I just like to build big houses and breed some horses… and maybe a little bit of exploring.”

Senior Josie Currie: “I used to ball, but then they made it hard and I stopped playing. It was a good time.”

We used to have a computer, my brothers and I would constantly play Minecraft. The computer is gone now, but I still like playing Minecraft when I can and plan to buy all the mods when I am older and have my own computer. I will always like Minecraft.
