Since Disney bought the Star Wars franchise, they have released three new films and plan to release several more. From the most recent trilogy, The Last Jedi was released December 15th 2017, and the movie caused a lot of controversy amongst fans.

I have been a Star Wars fan since birth—The Empire Strikes Back is my favorite. I recall viewing the films on repeat on my little VCR TV as a little kid. Star Wars has always been a thread in my life’s sweater. Each time a new movie comes out I am very skeptical. The Force Awakens was okay for me. I loved Rogue One. When I went to see The Last Jedi, I had low expectations.

While the film held lots of personal interest for me, I had a few issues with the plot. I was pleased with the storyline with Rey and Kylo Ren, both skilled actors( despite the Kylo Ren memes). I was a fan of how they intertwined in each other’s character development. Although the plot of the film was not the most progressive, I felt that a large cast of the characters added good additional characterization in the film.

Speaking of plot I heartily disliked the plot line focused on Rose and Finn. I felt the film makers just didn’t know how to keep Finn in the story line so they came up with something to “fill time.” However, I did like the inspiration the children provided. When they gave the kids the rebel ring and the little boy summons his broom like a light saber in the end, I felt that the same emotion to the original Star Wars films generated.

What was your opinion on The Last Jedi?

NAME: Lyndsie Ludwig

FAVORITE STAR WARS MOVIE? A New Hope.

DID YOU LIKE THE LAST JEDI? It didn’t answer any of my questions, it actually created more. I did like it but the storyline was crap.

DO YOU THINK DISNEY SHOULD KEEP MAKING STAR WARS FILMS? No, they are ruining them and turning them into Disney movies.

NAME:Daniel Delgado

FAVORITE STAR WARS MOVIE? The Empire Strikes Back.

DID YOU LIKE THE LAST JEDI? I did like it, but I wish they had done some things differently. I didn’t like the casino scene; I felt that it had no point.

DO YOU THINK DISNEY SHOULD KEEP MAKING STAR WARS FILMS? Yes because there is always a new generation, and I want my kids to love all the generations of Star Wars. They should have their own Star Wars movies. As long as they don’t get too political.

NAME: Andy Robinson

FAVORITE STAR WARS MOVIE? Rogue One.

DID YOU LIKE THE LAST JEDI? I had mixed feelings because it didn’t further the plot.

DO YOU THINK DISNEY SHOULD KEEP MAKING STAR WARS FILMS? Sure.
